Copa America 2024

This year’s Copa America is a special one. It’s not only the very controversial background of the tournament; it’s also the fact that there is a defending Champion, Argentina, who is also the defending World Champion. Fans are excited to see major football events in the US stadiums, eight years after Chile was crowned champion at MetLife Stadium in New York in 2016.

Copa America 2024 will start on June 20th locally (June 21st 01:00 CET), with the champions of Argentina facing Canada in the opening game. The tournament will conclude on July 14th (July 15th 01:00 CET) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Copa America 2024 Groups

There are four groups in total for the tournament:

Group A: Argentina, Canada, Chile and Peru

Group B: Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico and Venezuela

Group C: Bolivia, USA, Panama and Uruguay

Group D: Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay

The organizing committee of this year’s tournament has selected 14 venues throughout the country to host the games. Each venue will host a pre-defined number of matches, ranging from one (Kansas City) to three (Miami).

Football Grounds, Cities, Fixtures

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host the opening game between Argentina and Canada (June 20th, 2024) and the clash between Panama and the USA (June 27th, 2024).

Hard Rock Stadium in Miami is the most important venue in the Copa America 2024 schedule. The final of the tournament will be played there on July 14th, 2024. Before that, Uruguay will compete against Panama (June 23rd, 2024), and the reigning champion Argentina will face Peru (June 29th, 2024).

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is a lucky one. American fans will get the chance to watch the US playing one of the games for the Copa America 2024 group stage against Bolivia (June 23rd, 2024). There is one more group stage game between Peru and Chile (June 21st, 2024) and one of the quarter-finals on July 5th.

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Kansas has been selected to host only one group stage game. But this will be a Team USA game, against Uruguay. At least the fans in Kansas are up for a treat.

Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, can also feel left out. Two not-so-big matches have been awarded to the city, Jamaica v Venezuela (June 30th, 2024) and Costa Rica v Paraguay (July 2nd, 2024). At the same time, no Copa America 2024 knock-out phase game will be played in Austin.

Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte has a unique setup in this tournament. It’s the only out of the Copa America 2024 stadiums that will not host group stage games but only knock-out stage games. It will be the venue where one of the semis will be played on July 10th, 2024, and the 3rd place game on July 13th, 2024.

The Copa America 2016 final venue, MetLife Stadium in New York, has been naturally selected for some big games. Chile will face Argentina on June 25th in one of the biggest group stage games since two previous champions will clash for a spot in the quarterfinals. Uruguay will also play there, facing Bolivia on June 27th. And, of course, one of the semi-finals of Copa America 2024 will take place in New York, a rather expected choice from the organizing committee.

Glendale is mostly famous for being a basketball town. However, State Farm Stadium will bring to Arizona three Copa America 2024 games, including one quarter-final. For the group stage, Colombia will play versus Costa Rica on June 28th, while Mexico will face Ecuador on June 30th.

One more venue in Texas, NRG Stadium in Houston, has been allocated three games in the Copa America 2024 schedule. Mexico will play against Jamaica on June 22nd, Colombia will face Paraguay on June 24th and a quarterfinal on July 4th.

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, is one of the two venues in the State that will see Copa America 2024 action. As expected, SoFi stadium will host a game between Mexico and Venezuela on June 26th, 2024, while a few days before that, Brazil will face Costa Rica.

Kansas City has a second stadium in the tournament. Children’s Mercy Park is a smaller, European football-like arena where Canada will compete against Peru on June 25th. It is the closest we will experience to a European football game during this year’s Copa America.

After Super Bowl LVIII earlier this year, Copa America awarded Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas some great matches. Ecuador v Jamaica (June 26th), Paraguay v Brazil (June 28th, 2024) and one of the quarter-finals will be played in Sin City.

Florida is a great football destination, home to Leo Messi in the last few years. Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando has been selected to host groups A and C games. Canada will play Chile for Group A (June 29th, 2024), and Bolivia will take on Panama on July 1st.

Finally, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, brings a super derby to the local fans and thousands of visitors. Brazil versus Colombia is one of the biggest games of the group stage and will take place on the 2nd of July 2024. Ten days before that, Ecuador will face Venezuela, hoping to secure a place in the knockout stage.

EDGE PLATFORM – ODDS FOR BRAZIL TO WIN COPA AMERICA 2024 (3.646)

Like most big football events, Copa America 2024 has some obvious favorites. Bookies logically consider Argentina and Brazil the teams that will dominate the tournament.

Argentina is both a World Champion and a Copa America champion. It makes sense that most bookies consider them the nation with the highest chances to win the trophy.

It also makes sense that all betting sites and exchanges feature Brazil in the second spot of their predictions. It is a team full of talent and passion that, under new leadership (Neymar will miss the tourney due to injury), might get the inspiration it lacked in recent national team tournaments and qualification games.

Uruguay, a team with a strong footballing pedigree, is a unanimous choice for the 3rd spot. Bookmakers offer odds ranging between 6.00 and 7.00 for a nation that has previously clinched the title, albeit 13 years ago. It’s worth noting that their recent form and performance will also play a significant role in their chances.

Competition heats up for the fourth and fifth spots in the favorites list to win Copa America 2024. Three countries, Colombia, Mexico and the USA, share the preferences of the betting sites. For most bookies, Mexico is the 4th favorite, but a few reject that scenario and propose the other two. Regardless of the order of appearance in this list, odds for the fourth and fifth spots won’t exceed 13.00.
