Roma vs Inter Milan Insights

Simone Inzaghi’s team have regained their form after a stuttering start to the season, having won their three games going into the international break across all competitions, with a Marcus Thuram hat-trick inspiring the Nerazzurri to a 3-2 win over Torino before the pause.

Inter’s last three matches in Serie A have been close affairs, with back-to-back 3-2 wins against Torino and Udinese preceded by a 2-1 defeat to city rivals AC Milan. Nevertheless, in the pursuit of retaining their title they sit second, two points behind Napoli. Their upturn in form has translated to the Champions League too, they’ve drawn 0-0 with Manchester City and beaten FK Crvena zvezda 4-0 to date.

Roma have been something of draw specialist this season – racking up stalemates with Monza, Athletic Bilbao, Genoa, Juventus and Cagliari across all competitions, with the 1-1 at Monza being the latest of those. Their league form sees them sitting ninth currently, just a point behind a European place. In the UEFA Conference League, the draw with Bilbao was followed by a disappointing defeat to IF Elfsborg.

Roma vs Inter Milan Team News

Roma will be sweating on the fitness of Artem Dovbyk going into the match, with the striker having played for Ukraine with an inflamed knee in the Nations League fixture with Czech Republic midweek. Roma’s medical team, however, are confident of having him back in action by Sunday.

They were, however, handed a boost with the news that Paolo Dybala will be fit to face Inter, after struggles with a left flexor injury in recent weeks. Questions will remain over his long-term fitness, however, having only made three Serie A starts this campaign, playing just 285 minutes in the opening seven matches.

Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski is undergoing medical tests ahead of the fixture, with concerns that he picked up a knock playing for Poland and could miss up to two weeks with injury. Inter could be boosted by the return of midfielder Nicolo Barella, who has regained full fitness following an ankle injury picked up in the derby against AC Milan.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals, Inter win @ 2.787

Other Serie A football betting tips:

AC Milan host Udinese this weekend in a clash that sees fourth take on sixth in Serie A. The visitors have a tendency to ship goals this season, conceding three to both Roma and Inter Milan, and managing only a solitary league clean sheet so far – against Como. They do, however, know where the net is. AC Milan have goals in them and will be looking to get back on track in Serie A, after going into the international break on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina. A win would see AC leapfrog Udinese in the table and put them in a Champions League spot. AC Milan to win and both teams to score is available at 3.090.

Another game that whets the appetite is third vs. fifth – Juventus vs Lazio. Juve have by far the meanest defense in Serie A, having conceded just the one goal in seven games – that coming in their last outing against Cagliari, when down to ten men. Lazio, on the other hand, are yet to keep a clean sheet, though have been more dangerous in front of goal than their hosts so far this season. Even so, it’s difficult to look past such a solid Juve side, back them to win with under 1.5 goals in the game @ 5.910.
