Football Grounds, Cities, Fixtures
Germany has regularly hosted big football events including the 2006 World Cup. The country offers several amazing venues, with mild temperatures and excellent playing conditions during this time of the year. Some people claim that the last Euro that took place in Germany, in 1996, was one of the most exciting ever held. Or it was just exciting because it was the first one with the new format.
Ten cities are ready to open their stadiums for the tournament’s games. Each city will host games from multiple groups and usually a game of the Top-6 round of 16. You can find more details about the cities and the venues below.
Berlin
The Olympiastadion will host the final of Euro 2024. Before that, it will also host three games of the group stage from Groups B and D (Spain v Croatia on June 15th, Poland v Austria on June 21st, and Netherlands v Austria on June 25th). There will be no semi-finals played in Berlin, but there will be games in Round 16 and also one of the quarter-finals.
Cologne
The beautiful city of North Rhine Westphalia and Cologne Stadium will be the hosts of four group stage games (Hungary v Switzerland on June 15th, Scotland v Switzerland on June 19th, Belgium v Romania on June 22nd and England v Slovenia on June 25th) and one game of the last 16.
Munich
The Bavarian capital is a rather important location for the tournament. It will host the opening game (Germany v Scotland on June 14th), three more group stage games (Romania v Ukraine on June 17th, Slovenia v Serbia on June 20th, and Denmark v Serbia on June 25th), a Top 16 match, and one of the two semi-finals (on July 9th).
Frankfurt
Frankfurt Arena isn’t exactly experiencing its best days in the Bundesliga. However, the stadium will open its doors for four group stage games of the Euro 2024 (Belgium v Slovakia on June 17th, Denmark v England on June 20th, Switzerland v Germany on June 23rd, and Slovakia v Romania on June 26th) and a Round of 16 game on July 1st, 2024.
Hamburg
Volksparkstadion is expected to experience some glory days again, as it hosts four group stage matches and one of the quarterfinals. Poland will play the Netherlands for Group D on June 16th, Croatia will face Albania for Group B on June 19th, Georgia and Czechia will fight each other for Group F on June 22nd, and Czechia will play a second game in the city against Turkey on June 26th.
Dortmund
The home of this year’s Champions League runner-up, BVB Stadion Dortmund, will host six games during the tournament. Four Group Stage matches (Italy v Albania on June 15th, Turkey v Georgia on June 18th, Turkey v Portugal on June 22nd and France v Poland on June 25th), one game for the last-16 stage and one semi-final.
Leipzig
The only city in East Germany to host Euro 2024 games will provide Leipzig Stadium for the matches of Group F (Portugal v Czech Republic), Group D (Netherlands v France) and Group B (Croatia v Italy). Then, fans in Leipzig will also have the chance to watch live one of the games of the Round 16 phase.
Gelsenkirchen
In AufSchalke Arena, fans will have the opportunity to watch two rather important games. Serbia will face England on June 16th, and Spain will play against Italy on the 20th. Apart from that, Georgia is not considered a serious contender in Group F, but it will face Portugal on June 26th.
Stuttgart
The capital of Baden-Württemberg will be lucky enough to host one of the three games that the Nationalmannschaft will play for the group stage. Germany will play against Hungary on the 19th of June, but Slovenia will face Denmark at the Stuttgart Arena before that. Two more group-stage matches in the same stadium include the clashes between Scotland and Hungary (on the 23rd) and Ukraine versus Belgium (on the 26th). After the group stage, only one game of the Quarter – Finals will be held in that venue.
Düsseldorf
Football fans who live in Düsseldorf have every reason to feel left out. No big games will take place in town. Austria will play France on the 17th, Slovakia will clash with Ukraine on the 21st, and Albania will most likely be on the receiving end against Spain on (the 24th). Local fans can at least pray for a good match-up in the quarterfinals since this will be the only event post-group stage in town.
EDGE PLATFORM – ODDS FOR ENGLAND TO WIN UEFA EURO 2024 (5.026)
Top 5 Bookies Favorite National Teams
Most bookies have gone live with the Euro 2024 odds moments after the draw in December last year. The odds were finalized after the last few teams were determined, with the knockout stage in March.
Among the early favorites, England and France have emerged as the frontrunners, their odds reflecting their strong positions. With most bookies offering the same odds for both, around 5.00, the competition is fierce. In the last few weeks, however, the Lions have dropped almost 0.5 units, intensifying the race and making them the favorite for most bookmakers worldwide.
Germany, the host nation, is alone in the 3rd position, with odds that range between 5.50 and 6.50. We are still to figure out why the reigning Champions, Italy, are the sixth favorite to win behind Portugal and Spain. Football history has proved that you can never write off the Squadra Azzurra. They proved it in the last Euro, and we consider them a better favorite than the countries of Iberia. Their Euro 2024 odds appear very lucrative, and we would gladly spend a few pennies on the Italians.
