Placing a Back Bet on Sharp Exchange

Sharp Exchange provides odds for various markets. For instance, imagine we have a scenario with two potential outcomes, both equally likely. The blue boxes indicate the back options, while the pink ones are for laying. If you’re interested in a specific back bet, select the corresponding market and enter your stake to view your potential profit. Remember, with a back bet, your liability matches your stake amount. To sum it up, your success with a back bet hinges on the desired outcome occurring.

Placing a Lay Bet on Sharp Exchange

Placing a lay bet follows a process quite similar to that of a back bet. Just choose one of the lay options (highlighted in pink) and input your stake amount. The main distinction here is that your stake represents what you’re willing to ‘risk’ on the bet. Key components to note are – Backer’s odds, Backer’s stake, and Your liability. Backer’s odds refer to the odds at which another punter is placing a back bet. Using those odds and their stake, your liability comes into play. This liability reflects what you’d owe the other punter if they win.

Regardless of whether it’s a back bet or a lay bet, you’ll need to click the ‘Place bets’ button for your wagers to be finalized. There’s also a feature in the account settings called ‘Confirm bets before placing’ that you can activate if you prefer to review your bets once more before they go through. If you skip that step, your bets will be placed immediately as soon as another punter agrees to back or lay your wager.

After placing a bet, you’ll have a bet offer. Once someone matches your offer, the bet is officially on. It’s important to note that your bet doesn’t necessarily have to be matched in full; another punter might accept a part of your wager instead. If no one matches your bet, it will stay as an unmatched bet.

Placing an Unmatched Bet

Unmatched bets occur when there are no other bettors willing to take the other side of your wager. These bets will remain open in the market until you decide to cancel them or until the event concludes. If any part of your stake goes unmatched, you’ll receive that amount back into your account once the event’s markets are settled.

Matched bets will be finalized as soon as the outcome is determined. If the odds from bookmakers fluctuate and your bet remains unmatched, it might be a good idea to adjust your odds to enhance the chances of getting your bet matched. Don’t stress if a portion of your bet has already been matched; you can still modify the odds for the unmatched part to improve the chances of a match. To check on your Matched or Unmatched bets, log into your account on a desktop or laptop. Head over to ‘My Account,’ then ‘My Bets,’ or look at the ‘Bet Slip’ section on the right side of your screen. For mobile users, simply select ‘My Bets’ from the main menu located between ‘Cash Out’ and ‘Search’ to access your bets.

In-Play Betting

In-Play, often referred to as Live Betting, is an exciting feature available at Sharp Exchange that allows you to place bets while an event is happening. It’s a great option for those moments when you recognize a valuable opportunity during the event or if you didn’t manage to place your bet before it started.

The odds for in-play betting are determined by various factors, including real-time developments in games, fights, or races, combined with historical data and advanced algorithms that assess the current conditions to predict potential outcomes. The dedicated ‘In-Play’ section allows you to view odds for ongoing events across a wide array of sports. You can easily spot in-play events as they’re highlighted in green within the navigation menus for each sport. For example, in Tennis or Snooker, you will see ‘In-Play’ highlighted in green, whereas in football, the current time played will be shown in green.

Setting Your Own Odds

You have the flexibility to set your own betting odds on the Sharp Exchange platform. The odds provided are merely suggestions based on predicted outcomes. If you believe the odds could be better, you have the option to take a risk and propose higher odds, or you could set odds that you think another bettor might accept.

Additionally, you can determine your stake by specifying both the odds you’re comfortable with and the maximum amount you’re willing to lose, often referred to as your liability. By choosing to lay a bet at lower odds, you minimize your potential loss if the bet doesn’t go your way.

Cashing Bets Out

This feature provides you with greater control over your betting, enabling you to make swift and informed decisions at crucial moments during events. It empowers you to lock in profits before an event wraps up or reduce losses prior to the settlement of your bet on Sharp Exchange. On the platform, any markets that support this feature are marked with a yellow circle containing a square – the cash out icon. With just a click, you can cash out all your bets and receive your payout before the event concludes.

Alternatively, within the cash out window, you have the option to use toggles for a partial cash out of your initial stake. The cash out value is calculated in real-time, based on the odds presented in the live markets. If liquidity is low, the cash out option may not be available. The amount shown for the cash out offer represents the minimum you would receive if the cash out is completed successfully. Since cash out values depend on live market conditions, they can fluctuate rapidly. This means that requests might be unsuccessful or only partially fulfilled. However, on certain occasions, you may end up receiving more than initially indicated. The key here is to make quick, informed choices with as much information as possible at your fingertips, granting you the ability to make more strategic betting decisions.

If a cash out request is unsuccessful, you’ll be presented with a new cash out offer based on the updated market prices in relation to your position. Should there be a decrease in market exposure that you cashed out from, it will be credited back to your account once the cash out is confirmed. For partial cash outs that yield a profit, this will be paid out after the event concludes and the market is settled. For instance, imagine you’ve placed a bet on a football match you’re following. If the team you’ve backed is leading 1-0 but receives a red card, you have the opportunity to either hold onto your bet, cash it out entirely, or opt for a partial cash out depending on your confidence in the team’s chances of winning.

What do I do if I forget my password?

Should you happen to forget your password, you can reach out to our support team, who will be happy to help you regain access to the account. If you remember your password but want or need to change it, go to the top right corner select ‘Account’, and then click on reset password. You can then enter your current password and your new one.
